This introductory course will give you an insight into both the health and social care and early years sectors, and will enable you to explore the types of roles within each sector. Are you caring and compassionate and interested in a career helping others? Then this is the course for you.
As part of your study programme you will also have the opportunity to attend a work experience placement, take part in enrichment activities and attend GCSE Maths and English classes.

The course consists of mandatory units and optional units which include:

What next?
This course is ideal for developing basic skills in the health and social care and early years, English and maths before progressing on to the Level 2 Introduction to Health and Social Care and Early Years (T-Level Foundation Programme). This course will also provide you with the necessary skills to apply for an apprenticeship.
Entry criteria
English & Maths GCSE at Grade 2, or Level 1 Functional Skills in both subjects.
Fee information
In addition to the main course fees given below there is an additional cost of £70 for kit / clothing, and £45 for course trips and visits. Further details will be provided at interview and also details of bursaries.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Qualifications received
On completion of this course you will receive an NCFE/CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings.
Learning & method assessment
All course work is teacher assessed using a variety of methods e.g. posters, leaflets, presentations.
User skills
You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to prepare you for employment. Key transferable skills you will learn are communication skills, team working skills, independent study skills, inter-personal skills, organisational skills and time management skills.
