Abingdon & Witney College works in partnership with Lee Stafford and is proud to be home to the only Lee Stafford Hair & Beauty Academy in Oxfordshire. If you’re interested in a career in a salon environment, there’s no better place in Oxfordshire than the Lee Stafford Academy.
This exciting course at the Abingdon campus will allow you to develop your creative practical skills and teach you the theory alongside the practical units. Students will learn specially designed ‘recipes’ which are unique to Lee Stafford Education, reflecting some of the most cutting-edge styles seen in salons across the UK. You will learn how to complete the basics of hairdressing in all areas. Starting with health and safety and communication skills then progressing onto colour and cutting hair. In the Hair Salon you will have access to excellent industry-standard resources such as Wella.
Course units
These are the typical units you will study over the duration of the course:

Health and Safety: During this unit you'll develop advanced skills in how to stay safe whilst in a salon. You also will learn how to identify different hair and scalp conditions to keep safe and to prevent spreading cross infections and infestation.

Cutting Hair: During this unit you will learn essential basic cutting techniques to enable you to be a stylist. Alongside cutting you will learn how to shampoo and condition hair and of course you will need to know how to finish the hair. We teach you how to blow-dry and set the hair for all hair types.

Colouring the hair: During this unit you will be learning a lot of hair science (it’s not all practical). We make it fun and interesting to help you remember the key terms and terminology. You will learn all the basics colouring techniques starting from full head colours to full head foils.

Plaiting and Twisting: During this unit you will learn how to plait and twist the hair. This unit is great to show your creative hair up skills

By the end of this course you will have developed a broad portfolio of creative work that will help you to progress.
