A perfect introduction on learning how to play simple tunes on a guitar.
On this course you will learn the basics that you need to play simple tunes on a guitar.You will cover• Basic guitar chords• Tuning an acoustic guitar• Correct hand placement• How to read music

You will work on a group piece as well as receiving individual feedback. By the end of this course learners will be able to • Play along with some modern songs• Read TAB music and chord charts • Have an understanding of the guitar neck and the basic concepts of music theory.

Learners will be able to progress onto the improvers course. Please note, you will need to bring your own guitar.

In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.

Free parking onsite, bus stop outside. Bring own refreshments if needed. No class during half term.

Please note that there will be no class on 28/10/2025

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
As this is a non-accredited course, a variety of teaching and learning methods will be used.
They will include demonstration, practical, 1 to 1 tuition and group work. Informal methods of assessment will be used.
To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
