This is the follow-on course from your Developing Conversational Fluency B course where you will continue to work on and improve your reading, writing, listening and mainly your conversational skills.

Using a wide range of tenses with formal and informal language you will continue to work on authentic material, newspaper articles, extracts from literature, fragments from tv programs, radio programs related to a range of topics. Learners will be able to discuss and give opinions and use grammar points, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions comfortably.

The main topics to work on in this course are:

• Talk about education in the modern world

• Talk about health, food and modern diet

• Watch film extracts to study their script, purpose and language style

Entry criteria
This is a course for those who will already be able to talk fairly confidently in the present, past, future and conditional tenses. You may understand references to the subjunctive mood although you may not be confident in using it. There are no formal entry requirements however this is a course for those who have already studied the language at a language school for three to four years or followed a course for at least 250 hours or more. The standard of this course approximates to Level B2 in terms of the Common European Framework.
Fee information
A text book is used to accompany the course but it is optional to buy this (average cost £20 - £25). The text book will support your learning for at least 1 year. You may also like to buy a small dictionary. Your tutor will be able to advise you at the first session.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
Learning activities will include individual, pair, small group and whole class work. You will listen to the spoken word through conversation activities, CDs and DVDs, practise speaking, play games, read more complex texts and write accounts. This is not an accredited course so there will be no formal examination. However, your tutor will ask you to complete informal assessment exercises and will give you feedback.

As this is a non-accredited course, there is no formal qualification. To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
