Are you interested in exploring different designs and glass fusing techniques? Come along to our Glass Fusion - Fused Glass Garden Lanterns course where you can enjoy creating your own unique glass artwork and explore your creativity through Kiln Formed Glass. Your creations can be either functional or decorative.
On this course you can explore kiln carving and metal inclusions to create your own bespoke fused glass garden lanterns. You will learn: Design techniques and special effects; Fusing processes; Glass Cutting Techniques; Compatibility of Metals in glass; Preparation of moulds for slumping; and Health & Safety for working with glass materials.

Project 1: Kiln Carving: You will learn how to create bas relief and texture in glass. This process involves cutting designs in fibre paper, creating different thicknesses and fusing the glass over your design to create contours and textures.

Project 2: Metal Inclusions: In this project you will experiment with metals that are compatible with glass. Materials like foils, meshes, metal powders and oxides can be used to create interesting designs and you can use copper wire to create a line drawing within your design. Both these projects are suitable for a further firing to create a shallow dish or you might just wish to use it as a serving platter or decorative panel.

Please bring with you: a sketchbook/notebook and pen, photos, patterns and pictures to use as inspiration, a dust mask, an apron, an old but clean dishcloth is useful. Please wear closed-toe shoes

There is free parking onsite. Please bring lunch and refreshments with you.
