On our Glass Fusion - Mosaic Glass Fusing Workshop you can create intricate and colourful glass ‘paintings’ by inlaying small pieces of glass and grouting it with glass powders.
You can create either a small glass mosaic wall hanging, or a shallow slumped platter (which involves a second firing) which will be fused in a glass kiln off-site and returned to the venue for your collection. Through the workshop, you will learn how to (1) cut glass using a strip cutter as well as cutting freehand, (2) familiarise yourself with the different glass materials used (3) use hand tools and equipment through demonstrations and tutor guidance (4) use a glass grinder. Essential Health & Safety will also be covered.

All materials, tools, and equipment will be supplied by your tutor who will also coordinate a firing service and provide suitable moulds for slumping. You are encouraged to bring any resources or images that you would like for inspiration and your own ideas.

The difference between full fuse and a slump fuse will be explained and you will have the choice of having your piece fired twice to slump into a platter if you wish.

To avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2 ½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information 2 weeks prior to the start date.
