Apply for this course
This is a new course and will enable you to design a fused glass lantern for your home or garden. Enjoy exploring your creativity through Kiln Formed Glass.

For this project you will be designing and making 4 glass fused panels for a garden lantern. The choice of design will be yours. There are many options which will be discussed. Garden and flowers, trees, fish in a ‘tank’ abstract shapes, landscape. Bring some pictures for inspiration. This will then be prepared ready for firing in a kiln. You will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of colours and materials like stringers, confetti, frits and powders. Your lantern frame will be provided for this workshop and you will have a choice of how many of the panels you wish to decorate.

During this project you will also be able to develop your glass cutting skills and familiarise yourself with the use of a strip cutter. A Variety of glass materials will be supplied to use in your designs.

We recommend wearing closed, comfortable shoes.

What next?
Learners will be able to extend their knowledge and skills of kiln formed glass by attending a variety of glass fusing courses.
Entry criteria
This course can be adapted to suit a range of abilities, including beginners and those with previous experience.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

This course/workshop includes a material fee that provides essential resources and hands-on demonstrations, empowering you to achieve your learning goals and master new skills with confidence.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
