Are you a keen gardener who wants to learn new tips and gain advice from industry professionals? This programme will help build confidence and support hobbyists and professionals alike in upskilling. In the face of climate change, gardening methods are evolving. This course aims to provide a holistic approach to horticulture. There will be a focus on sustainability and planet-friendly gardening. There is an opportunity for learners to have input into the content so it can meet individual needs.

Topics the course will cover:
• Soil health and care
• Plant health and care
• Biodiversity and creating a positive balance in the garden
• Sustainability and organic gardening methods and practices
Please note the course is practical and hands-on; this will mean you will be out in all weather conditions.
• Basic garden design and planting skills.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

College Certificate.
Learning & method assessment
Practical learning environment. Students build a portfolio of evidence combining practical observation of skills with some written work. A range of methods will be used to assess this qualification. They include formative assessment of skills by tutors at RHS Centres, and a range of summative short answer tests as well as direct observation by RHS Assessors. All assessments must be conducted in accordance with the RHS requirements (see rhs.org.uk/qualifications for more details).
