It is estimated that one in five adults lack basic digital skills. This qualification aims to enable learners to develop the digital skills they need for life, work, or further study. It builds on courses such as Essential Digital Skills Qualification Level 1 – A preparation broadening and embedding digital skills, tools and techniques used regularly in work-based scenarios.

The course is assessed by a self-generated portfolio of work and individual topic assignments.

In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.

The content of the qualifications is based on the National standards for essential digital skills April 2019. This qualification will enable learners to develop the digital skills they need for life, work, or further study as set out in the National standards for essential digital skills.

The course focuses on developing skills for life and introducing learners to skills for work and covers 5 skills areas:

1. Using devices and handling information

2. Creating and editing
