Apply for this course
Develop your confidence in French by describing past and future events, building short narratives and expressing causes and consequences. Practise real-life situations such as banking, post office visits and giving directions, using French webpages and short videos to support conversation and comprehension.
You will narrate and give your opinions about how things used to be, contribute to a book and a film review, and hold dialogues at the bank, at the post office, and at the estate agent. You will plan activities for the coming weeks or for the next ten years, explain what kind of actions to take for a house move, discuss ways of organising one, and list DIY items and actions needed. You will provide some advice to prevent accidents. You will use three past tenses and make suggestions and elaborate hypotheses.

Book recommended: Access French 2 published by Routledge-Author: Bernard Grosz.

Please note there are no classes during half term.

Term 3 course dates are subject to change due to GCSE examinations in May/June. Classes may be cancelled or rescheduled depending on the level of support required for learners during the exam period. Any changes cannot be confirmed until Term 2.

What next?
French - Higher Intermediate Level A
Entry criteria
This course is designed for students who studied the French Intermediate B course or a French course for about two academic years and speak at the present tense and at two past tenses as well. Students should be able from the start to describe their weekly routine, to talk about their habits and their hobbies, analyse a few characters, provide opinions and express thoughts.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.
