Take your first steps towards a career in the Engineering Industry with a Level 2 Engineering course. Engineering has a hand in designing nearly everything you come into contact with within your daily lives such as homes, cars, computers, mobile phones and game consoles. This course will allow you to develop an understanding of engineering disciplines and prepare you for working in this exciting industry. You will spend time in both the classroom, learning basic principles and theory, and in the engineering workshop, where you will learn a range of practical engineering processes and skills

The course will prepare the learner to be able to aware of and abide by the safe working practices within an engineering environment, paired with the practical skills of hand fitting techniques, use of a centre lathe (turning) and using a vertical milling machine.

What next?
You have different options. You can progress to the T Level in Engineering or go into an Apprenticeship or study an alternative level 3 qualification within Further Education.

Entry criteria
4 GCSES at grade 3 or above including English and at least grade 4 in Maths. Students with lower than grade 5 in maths will be required to study maths GCSE and achieve a grade 5 in order to progress to the T Level.

Learning & method assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including observation of practical workshop tasks, practical task write ups which detail how the task was performed, written theory knowledge papers and online exams. These will challenge your understanding of the content and concepts of engineering. If required you will also study GSCE English and/or maths to support your entry to employment, apprenticeship or further studies.

As well as the technical and practical skills you will gain a range of transferable skills including written and oral communication, team working, self-management, time management, leadership, self-confidence and self-directed learning. You will gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you need to gain employment or to progress you onto your next level of study.
