Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical, practical and academic skills in order to prepare you for a career in the engineering industry, an apprenticeship or further study.

The course will prepare the learner to be able to aware of and abide by the safe working practices within an engineering environment, paired with the practical skills of hand fitting techniques, use of a centre lathe (turning) and using a vertical milling machine.

Learning & method assessment
The course is predominantly practical and is assessed by practical work pieces, short, detailed write ups and job plans and short answer end of unit exams both online and written.

As well as the technical and practical skills you will gain a range of transferable skills including written and oral communication, team working, self-management, time management, leadership, self-confidence and self-directed learning.You will gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you need to gain employment or to progress you onto your next level of study.
