Develop your personal photography projects and build a portfolio for exhibition or publication, with expert guidance on image design and Photoshop editing.
This photography course is designed for learners who are ready to take their skills further by devising and completing their own personal projects. With a strong emphasis on creativity and portfolio development, you will work towards producing a set of finished prints suitable for exhibition or the creation of a self-published photo book.

Each week you will take part in group discussions and critiques, gaining constructive feedback on composition, technique, and style to help refine your personal vision. Alongside this, you will explore the work of renowned photographers for inspiration and insight into different genres and approaches.

A key part of the course is learning how to enhance and finalise your images using Photoshop, with supportive 1:1 guidance from the tutor. You will be encouraged to experiment and adapt your ideas as your project develops. Please note that this course is aimed at improvers rather than complete beginners, and some prior experience with Photoshop and RAW processing will be beneficial.

By the end of the course, you will have significantly developed both your technical skills and your artistic eye, with a strong body of work to showcase your progress and creativity.

What next?
After completing this course you will understand how to make pictures that fulfil the potential of the RAW file and your vision of the finished image. You will be working on favourite subjects and developing a portfolio of images. Beyond this Abingdon & Witney College offer a range of additional courses to consolidate and expand your photography skills.
Entry criteria
This is an ideal follow-on for those who have completed ‘How the camera works’ and ‘How to See & Take Better Pictures’ or are already able to operate their cameras fully and are familiar with the Exposure Triangle, semi-automatic settings, depth of field, as well as composition and picture design.
Fee information
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
