A digital photography course following on from our College Digital DSLR Photography - Stage 1 course. It will enable you to further understand DSLR or bridge camera. The course will look at additional camera features and equipment that will enhance your photography skills.
Explore what equipment to use to enhance your photography skills. The course provides an opportunity to consider different genres such as night, still life, documentary and landscape.

Experiment with your camera’s functions, such as on camera flash and manual mode and look at available equipment. Explore several genres, discuss other photographer’s work and build your own skills and confidence. Discover the best lenses and filters for individual situations. Practice and develop your confidence using the camera in manual mode. Examine the rules of composition and how they relate to the new genres taught, such as night, still life, documentary and landscape. Explore the use of lighting techniques by using the on camera flash and painting with light. Evaluate your own photographs, drawing on the knowledge of the techniques taught over the course.You will need a digital SLR or Bridge camera. The course is not suitable for compact cameras.

At the end of the course you will have had the opportunity to:- explain the best lenses and filters for individual situations;- experiment with using the camera in manual mode;- explain the rules of composition and how they relate to the genres night, still life, documentary, and landscape;- explore use of lighting techniques by using on camera flash, for example, painting with light;- produce a workbook/portfolio with at least five photos in the genre of your choice;- evaluate your own photos drawing on the knowledge of the techniques taught over the course.

Entry criteria
For those who have completed the Stage 1 Digital DSLR Photography course, or equivalent, or for those who have a sound understanding of aperture, shutter and ISO and are already using their camera off auto.
Fee information
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
