The Digital DSLR Photography - Stage 1 course aims to get you to a level where you can confidently grasp the fundamentals of DSLR Photography.
During the course you will:• Explore the camera’s functions.• Look at the technical side of photography.• Look at what is needed to create the perfect picture. • Explore the more creative side and open your photographer’s eye.

By the end of the course you will have had the opportunity to:• Understand how your camera works.• Recognise the relationship between shutter speed, ISO and aperture, composition, focusing white balance, image quality.

For beginners and owners of a Bridge or DSLR camera or a camera that allows full manual control. Please note this course is not suitable if you own a standard point and shoot compact camera. There are no entry requirements for this course.

Free parking onsite, bus stop outside. Bring own refreshments if needed. No class during half term.

In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.

Entry criteria
A digital photography course for owners of a DSLR camera or those that have a camera that allows users FULL manual control – please check your camera’s manual for details if you are unsure. This course is designed for complete beginners though photographers with some experience may find it useful to refresh their memory of certain techniques.
Fee information
On some sessions you may be asked to bring your homework as prints, which may incur additional costs of up to £5 per week as you will need to get some prints made, either online or at Boots, Jessops etc

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
Learning methods include presentation, demonstration, practical work, working in pairs and small groups, discussion and question and answer sessions. This is not an accredited course and there is no formal assessment. However, your tutor will ask you to complete informal assessment exercises and give you informal feedback.
As this is a non-accredited course, informal methods of assessment will be used.
To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
