For those who have completed ‘How the camera works’ or are already able to operate their cameras fully and are familiar with the Exposure Triangle, semi-automatic settings, depth of field etc. This course focuses on picture composition and critique of pictures submitted by participants. The work of famous photographers is also covered and two practical sessions will help you think and work in new ways.
Finding a subject and then being able to compose an interesting image is the real challenge of photography, so on this course you will learn how ‘to see’ a photograph in a variety of settings. In the digital world taking a picture is only part of the process, so we will cover basic processing of RAW files and Photoshop techniques to get the best from your image file and complete your picture. The course covers the outline steps of publishing your own photo-book and the tutor will publish a book of everyone’s pictures as a group project. Notes covering the content of each session are emailed out so you can build up a complete reference of everything covered. The course includes two practical sessions to practice and consolidate classroom skills. The photo-walks will cover up to two miles at a very leisurely pace. Venues tbc.
What next?
After completing this course you will understand how to make pictures of interesting things in ordinary places, so the follow on course addresses your personal development in “Photo Club”. This includes a deeper look at composition and opportunities to personally undertake basic picture processing using Photoshop, to complete your pictures.
