You will receive lots of help and advice, through demonstrations from your tutor, plus one to one guidance and creative work within a supportive group setting. What you need to bring to the first session: - A4 watercolour paper pad - 140lb or 300gsm, no lighter ( a pad of Langton Rough is recommended) - Paints - such as Winsor and Newton’s Cotman range or Daler Rowney’s Aquafine range- Tubes are much easier, so, tubes indoors is probably the best option, rather than pans. Colours: Essential: Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Ultra Marine Blue, Viridian Green (or Phthalo Green, but not both!), Also useful: Permanent Rose (very helpful for flower painters), Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre. - Selection of brushes- Choose from sable brushes at the top end, nylon brushes at the cheap end or synthetic Sable blends in the middle• A big one and a small one. (Number ten round and a number two round recommended for smaller A4 or A3 sized paintings). If you work big then a large hake is useful- Small white plate/palette to mix colour on. - Jam jar for water - Kitchen paper - HB pencil and sharpener - Eraser"
