Seacourt Hall• Introduction to construction drawing: measuring techniques: Construct basic forms using plumb lines, diagonals and triangulation techniques. • Further construction drawing, with more experienced learners asked to tackle more challenging subject matter. • Introduction to tonality: Charcoal drawing of simple sculptural objects • Further tonality: experimental mark making: Fruit and vegetables, bold expressive mark making. Experienced learners asked to relate several forms with each other and consider composition. • Introduction to watercolour: wet into wet, layered washes, dry brushing. Beginners to work from tutor demonstration of landscape, experienced learners given the option of creating your own image. • Repeated mark painting of still life of citrus fruit, looking for local, tonal and ambient colour. Beginners to paint one or two pieces, experienced learners to paint a range of fruits and make some consideration towards composition. • Repeated mark painting of trees, looking for patterns and ratios of leaf and sky. • Still life with warm analogous colours • Analogous colours part two; Cool colours in a landscape: a choice of reference, from very simple, to more challenging • Snow scene using masking fluid and limited palette.
What you need to bring to the first session: A4 watercolour paper pad Small white plate to mix colour on. Jam jar for water Kitchen paper HB pencil and sharpener Eraser
Your tutor will advise you of further art materials that you will need as the course progresses In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date. Please note there will be no class on 30/10/2024.
Parking onsite - 2 hours free then paid, bus stops close by. Refreshments able to purchase onsite. N
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
