Discover the exciting skills of drawing and painting and create your own unique art samples. The course provides a structured introduction to a range of art & design activities.
Students are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, and find their strength. The exploration and development of ideas is also a key element of the course. Enthusiasm and commitment are essential and more important than formal qualifications.

Main topics covered: • Learn about visual language in relation to art project: line, pattern, shape and form, tonal value, colour, texture.• Use and utilise all available visual resources to develop ideas for a future art project.• Develop and revise the image- ideas to create final design solution.• Use contour drawing to create the guide-line of the composition in basic shape and proportions on real scale.• Employ the knowledge of colour theory to create a well thought colour visualisation.

Please note there are no classes during half term.

There will be a continuation course Drawing and Painting - Mixed Ability - Spring.
Entry criteria
Absolutely no previous experience is required.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

This course includes a material fee that provides essential resources and hands-on demonstrations, empowering you to achieve your learning goals and master new skills with confidence.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
