Discover the exciting skills of drawing and painting and create your own unique artwork. This intensive course provides the necessary information about the tools and techniques of drawing and painting and is structured to suit learners’ pace and prior abilities.
The exploration and development of ideas is a key element of the course. See what you can produce after ten sessions and amaze yourself!

Main topics covered:

• Proportion and relative proportion.• Composition and relationships of objects.• The basic rules of using guidelines to help position things correctly.• Colour theory.• How to create different tone and decorative patterns with pen and ink.• Creating a three-dimensional image of a still-life in pencil or gouache by using knowledge about main rules of perspective.

Please note there are no classes during half term.

What next?
There will be a continuation course Drawing and Painting for Absolute Beginners - Spring.
Entry criteria
Absolutely no previous experience is required.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

This course includes a material fee that provides essential resources and hands-on demonstrations, empowering you to achieve your learning goals and master new skills with confidence.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
