This T Level will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding in a broad range of design, surveying and planning for construction disciplines. It will include an industry placement, with a chance to apply your skills and knowledge in a real-life workplace environment.
During the 2-year programme, you will learn the core knowledge and skills for entry to a range of construction occupations, specifically in surveying and design, civil engineering, and building services design.

For young people looking to begin a career in construction and the built environment industry, T Levels are a high-quality, work-focused alternative to A Levels, offering new routes to employment, apprenticeships, or further learning.

Course units
All students will develop a general understanding of construction, including:• health and safety• the science behind building design, surveying and planning• making accurate and appropriate measurements• construction methods• building regulations and standards• data management and information standards in construction• relationship management and customer service• how the Internet of Things (IoT) impacts construction• digital engineering techniques• mathematical techniques to solve construction problems• construction design principles and processes• the construction industry and its role in the economy• sustainability and the environmental impact of construction• business, commerce and corporate social responsibility

You will also learn about topics specific to design, surveying and planning, including:• project management• budgeting and resource allocation• procurement• risk management

Year 2In addition to the core content, in the second year each student must choose one of the following occupational specialisms:1. Surveying and design for construction and the built environment 2. Civil engineering

What next?
The T-Level offers learners the best route into industry be that via the Construction Management HNC, an apprenticeship or full time work within the design, surveying or planning branch of the construction industry.
Entry criteria
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths OR a pass at Level 2 and English and maths grade 4 or above.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
This course combines both theoretical and practical sessions. You will be assessed in various ways (exams, activities, group work, workshop tasks, photographic and video evidence), with an employer set project to undertake.
