This advanced creative writing course will help you build upon your existing skills, offering advanced techniques tailored to your specific writing goals. Topics covered include:

• Strengthening short stories and novels by refining structure, pacing, and flow• Deepening character development with emotional complexity and subtle motivations• Crafting intricate plot structures, enhancing narrative tension, and managing story arcs• Mastering advanced dialogue techniques and using subtext to enrich your narrative• Experimenting with different points of view and narrative voices to diversify your work• Implementing advanced self-editing strategies and techniques for effective revision• Exploring various writing mediums, including dramatic writing, screenwriting, and poetry• Delving into advanced creative writing theory and diverse writer’s methodologies• Developing your unique voice and refining your personal writing style for greater impact• Advanced strategies for getting published, finding representation, and navigating the literary world

Entry criteria
There are no specific entry requirements, but students will be expected to do written exercises in class and (to make the most of it) as homework. It may have helped to have completed Creative Writing Beginners and Improvers. It may also been beneficial to have completed Creative Writing Intermediate A and/or B. It is not, however a prerequisite to do so. Students will need to come with notebook and pen (or laptop if they prefer).
Fee information
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
