Take your writing further. This course helps experienced writers refine their voice, master advanced techniques, and explore new forms - from fiction and poetry to stage and screen.
This course will build on your existing creative writing skills, providing more advanced techniques while addressing your specific goals. Topics include:

• Strengthening and refining short stories and novels• Deepening character development and emotional complexity• Crafting intricate plot structures and enhancing narrative tension• Exploring advanced dialogue techniques and subtext• Experimenting with various points of view and narrative voices• Advanced editing and self-review strategies• Writing for stage, screen, and writing poetry• Experimenting with transgressive and experimental creative writing• Developing your personal writing style and voice• Advanced strategies for getting published and navigating the industry

Please note there is no class during half term. The course will be held online using Teams and your tutor will email you calendar invites prior to classes.

Entry criteria
There are no specific entry requirements, but students will be expected to do written exercises in class and (to make the most of it) as homework.

It may have helped to have completed Creative Writing Beginners A, B and/or C, as well as the Creative Writing Improves A course. However it is not a prerequisite.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.
