Take your writing further. This course helps experienced writers refine their voice, master advanced techniques, and explore new forms—from fiction and poetry to stage and screen.
This course will build on your existing creative writing skills, providing more advanced techniques while addressing your specific goals. Topics include:

• Strengthening and refining short stories and novels• Deepening character development and emotional complexity• Crafting intricate plot structures and enhancing narrative tension• Exploring advanced dialogue techniques and subtext• Experimenting with various points of view and narrative voices• Advanced editing and self-review strategies• Writing for stage, screen, and writing poetry• Experimenting with transgressive and experimental creative writing• Developing your personal writing style and voice• Advanced strategies for getting published and navigating the industry

Entry criteria
There are no specific entry requirements, but students will be expected to do written exercises in class and (to make the most of it) as homework. It may have helped to have completed Creative Writing Beginners A, B and/or C, as well as the Creative Writing Improves A course. However it is not a prerequisite.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
You will be assessed through formal and informal assessment, observation, and peer evaluation. Also, you will self-evaluate your skill set at the start of the course against the learning outcomes planned for the course and will self-evaluate again at the end of the course in order to measure your progress and gain confidence in your learning. To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
