On this course, you will have an opportunity to explore many different drawing and painting techniques using a variety of media such as watercolour, acrylic, charcoal and graphite. You will experiment using classical methods as well as contemporary approaches and study a diverse range of artists as inspiration.
This course is designed to suit your individual needs, whether you are a novice or more experienced in drawing and painting. You will be able to receive constructive support from your tutor and peers to further develop your technical skills and creativity.

On this course, you will:• Explore creative processes of art project development • Create work using different materials such as pencil, watercolour, pastel, acrylic and charcoal • Study a diverse range of different artist's work relating to the aims and objectives of each lesson • Explore use of line, tone, composition, shape, perspective, tonal value, colour and texture • Express your creative ideas through group discussions • Explore and develop your personal style

What you need to bring to each session:• A2/A3 sketchbook or cartridge paper 160 grams• A range of pencils e.g. 2B, 4B, 6B• Eraser• Sharpener

Your tutor will advise you of any other materials you may need as the course progresses.

Parking available at Redbridge Park and Ride, Bus stop near by. No refreshments available, please bring your own. No class during half term.

This course may lead to an improvers course or another course in drawing and painting with Oxfordshire Adult Learning.
Entry criteria
None required for this course as it accommodates complete beginners or those with prior experience.

Fee information
You are expected to provide your own materials, which may cost approximately £30. Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
The focus of the course is practical and will include, lecture, demonstrations, individual practice, pair work, group discussions, quizzes and presentations. Evaluation of your own skills and working on a 1:1 basis with your tutor which will include developmental feedback.

As this is a non-accredited course, informal methods of assessment will be used. You will be required to complete a RARPA form which represents Recognising and Recording your Progress and Achievement.
