Learn the basics of composting in this indoor, theory-based 2-hour workshop! Discover what to compost, how to balance materials, and troubleshoot common issues to create nutrient-rich compost for your garden.
• Introduction to composting and leaf mould benefits• What materials can and can’t be composted• Types of compost bins and containers• How to make and store leaf mould• Leaf mould container setup and maintenance• Uses of home-made compost and leaf mould in gardening• Troubleshooting common composting issues• Practical tips for getting started at home

Facilities at Abingdon Campus:

- Vending machines and Costa Coffee shop (open until 7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday term time only).- Watercoolers available, making it easy to refill your water bottle.- Free parking.

Please note that this is not an RHS qualification course, nor is it affiliated with any of the horticulture programmes delivered at our Common Leys campus. The course is specifically designed for gardening enthusiasts seeking to develop their knowledge and practical skills for personal interest, rather than as a formal professional qualification.

No previous knowledge or experience necessary. All welcome.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
