Continue developing your creative writing skills in this engaging follow-up course. Experiment with new techniques, refine your storytelling, and build confidence in a supportive online space.
Who is this course for?Any unpaid carer who is looking after someone with a long-term illness, special need or impairment is invited to join this online course.

Building on the foundations of Creative Writing Fiction Part 1, this course delves deeper into storytelling elements, encouraging you to develop your unique voice and style. Whether you are continuing your journey or joining with prior experience, this course offers a welcoming space to explore, create, and grow as a writer.

Advanced Writing Prompts – Unlock deeper creativity and originality. Character Development – Create complex and compelling characters. Dialogue Writing – Craft authentic and engaging conversations. Plot Development – Structure compelling narratives with twists and depth. Exploring Genre – Experiment with different styles and storytelling techniques. Point of View & Narrative Voice – Strengthen perspective and storytelling impact. Editing & Refining – Enhance your writing through revision techniques. Sharing & Feedback – Gain confidence by discussing and refining your work.

There will be no class during half-term.The course will be held online using Teams and your tutor will email you calendar invites prior to classes.

Entry criteria
This course is ideal for those who have completed Creative Writing Fiction Part 1 or have a basic understanding of storytelling techniques and are looking to develop their skills further. This course is provided as part of the Courses for Carer's programme that has been developed in partnership with Action for Carers. It is specifically for unpaid carers who are looking after someone who has a long-term illness, special need, or impairment.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

Fee information
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
