Boost your confidence and creativity in this interactive writing course. Explore different styles, develop your skills, and connect with others in a friendly, supportive online space.
Who is this course for?Any unpaid carer who is looking after someone with a long-term illness, special need or impairment is invited to join this online course.

This course is designed to help you build confidence in writing, develop your creative skills, and explore different techniques in a fun and supportive online environment. Whether you're a beginner or have experience, you'll be encouraged to write in every session.

Using Writing Prompts – Learn how to spark ideas and start writing. Descriptive Writing – Create vivid imagery and sensory detail. Narrative Writing – Develop compelling stories and characters. Exposition & Persuasion – Practice clear, structured writing. Writing from Different Perspectives – Experiment with voice and style. Structuring Your Writing – Organise ideas for impact and clarity. Language Techniques – Use literary devices to enhance your work. Building Writing Confidence – Develop your style and express ideas freely.

There will be no class during half-term.The course will be held online using Teams and your tutor will email you calendar invites prior to classes.

Entry criteria
This course is provided as part of the Courses for Carers programme that has been developed in partnership with Action for Carers. It is specifically for unpaid carers who are looking after someone who has a long-term illness, special need, or impairment. All-age inclusivity: Suitable for participants of all ages, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

Fee information
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
