This online course provides an opportunity for carers to explore the beneficial health effects of creating and observing art. For centuries, people used creativity to deal with stress, cope with trauma and improve self-awareness and self-esteem.
Who is this course for?Any unpaid carer who is looking after someone with a long-term illness, special need or impairment is invited to join this online course.

What the course will cover:A relaxing, creative introduction to simple watercolour techniques inspired by two well known artists (their identities revealed during the sessions—no prior knowledge needed). Each weekly session includes a different art skill to support wellbeing and stimulate the brain.

Materials needed:Watercolour paints (or pencils/pastels), brushes, 300gsm watercolour paper, a water jar, and an old towel or kitchen paper. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy.

Sessions take place online via Microsoft Teams. You’ll receive calendar invites from your tutor. A phone works, but a PC or laptop makes slides easier to view. Enjoy learning in a friendly, coffee afternoon atmosphere with fellow carers.
