Join this cookery course and unlock the secrets of creating irresistible, flaky, and delicious Pies and Pastries! Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course will teach you the art of making both sweet and savoury pies, tarts, quiches and pastries from scratch. You will learn essential techniques such as making the perfect pastry dough, achieving the ideal crust texture, and creating a variety of fillings to creamy custards and hearty savoury mixtures. Your tutor will guide you step-by-step through the process, helping you craft both classic and creative pies and pastry recipes. By the end of the course you will be ready to bake impressive pies and pastries for any event, from family dinners to special events.
This 10 week program will gradually build your skills from basic dough techniques to mastering a variety of sweet and savoury pastries. You will explore; essential ingredients and tools for pie and pastry baking, different dough's such as shortcrust, pate brisee and flaky pastry, sweet pies and tarts, savoury pies and pastries, puff pastry and Danish, hand pies empanadas and classic and modern pie creations. Throughout the course you will receive hands-on experience, along with expert tips and tricks for perfecting each dish.

Entry criteria
No skills or prior knowledge are required before starting the course. The course is suitable for the complete beginner or for those who wish to broaden their skills in the kitchen.

You will need to buy food ingredients. You will receive an email before the start of the course, informing you of the ingredients and equipment you will need for your first lesson.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

As this is a non-accredited course, there is no formal qualification. However, you will be asked to complete activities that demonstrate how you are progressing on your course.
Learning & method assessment
You will receive step by step instructions accompanied by demonstrations, PowerPoint presentations and videos. An assessment will be carried out by observation and food testing.
