Our Construction Essentials in Design and Planning Level 2 course is the perfect starting point for your career in the modern construction industry.

On this course you will explore the key elements of construction, including construction methods and materials, surveying techniques and the importance of health, safety and environmental responsibility in construction. Through a blend of practical workshops, classroom study and project-based learning, you will develop core employability skills including teamwork, problem-solving, communication and attention to detail.

This course is designed to prepare you for the T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction, related apprenticeships or further study within the construction and built environment sector. If you’re creative, enjoy solving problems and want to help shape the world around you, this course can give you the knowledge and confidence to take the next step towards exciting roles like architect, site manager, or building surveyor.

Maintenance and Adapting of Buildings

Roofing Principles and Techniques
Tendering and Estimating
Exploring Surveying and Civil Engineering

What next?

You could progress to the T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction, continue on to an apprenticeship, or enter employment.

Entry criteria

External applicants: Three grade 3s in English, Maths and Science.
Internal progression: Two grade 3s in English and Maths plus successful completion of the previous vocational programme.
