This Level 1 course is an introduction to Digital and computing with a focus on progressing onto level 2 learning. In this course you will learn a range of practical, personal and academic skills in order to prepare you for a career in the digital/computing industry, a level 2 course or apprenticeship within the college.
Introduction to programming skills, web design, and digital skills as well as focusing on your personal development skills and preparation for work and progression.
Course units
"Personal development units- Preparing for work, interview skills, presentation skills, team building, time management and project management
Practical skills- Web design, introduction to coding, using specific software and hardware"

Level 2 Transition course in computing/digital or any level 2 full time or apprenticeship
Entry criteria
English & Maths GCSE at grade 2 or Level 1 Functional Skills in both subjects

Learning & method assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including observation of practical tasks, practical task write ups which detail how the task was performed, written theory knowledge papers. These will challenge your understanding of the content and concepts of computing. If required you will also study GSCE English and/or maths to support your entry to employment, apprenticeship or further studies.
