This qualification aims to provide a deeper understanding and awareness of a range of mental health problems. It offers you the opportunity to gain an understanding of the symptoms and triggers relating to a wide variety of mental health problems and how to work with, or interact, with individuals who have them. These are valuable skills, both in a personal and a professional capacity, when dealing with people.
The course will explore: The course will look at a range of mental health problems including anxiety and stress; phobias; depression, including postnatal depression and bipolar disorder; schizophrenia; obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD); post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); eating disorders; dementia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. You will have four months to complete the course.

Who is this course for? This course is particularly beneficial for those working in education, health, and social care sectors to have a sound understanding of the range of mental health problems. The course may also be of general interest.

You will gain an understanding of the diverse ways in which mental health problems affect an individual and those around them and identify self-help resources and local support services.

Entry criteria
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but because this is a Level 2 qualification you will need to be working at English Level 1.5. All applicants will have to complete an online initial assessment to evidence their English level prior to enrolment. It is also recommended that you have good time management skills, are able to meet deadlines and possess good independent study skills. Please note - you should be 19 years old or over on 31st August 2024 prior to starting the course.
