This qualification is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of diabetes, including its various types, causes, and prevention strategies. Learners will develop awareness of how lifestyle changes can delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes and gain insights into diabetes diagnosis, initial care, and ongoing management to control blood sugar levels.
This comprehensive course is divided into four units. The first unit delves into the fundamentals of diabetes, including its types and causes. The second unit focuses on strategies to prevent and intervene in Type 2 diabetes. Unit three emphasizes the essential aspects of providing initial care for individuals with diabetes. Lastly, unit four explores treatment options and strategies for the ongoing management of diabetes, with a particular focus on controlling blood sugar levels. Together, these units provide learners with a holistic understanding of diabetes, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to support individuals effectively in healthcare and social care settings.

Entry criteria
Learners must be aged 19 or above and have not previously completed a similar qualification to qualify for funding. Some courses may have additional specific prerequisites. Please see fee information for funding requirements, or discuss upon enquiry.

These courses are government funded. To be able to study for free you must meet the following criteria:

- You must currently live in England

- You must have been a resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years for purposes other than study

- You must be over the age of 19

- You must not be an apprentice

- You must not be currently studying another funded course.
