The objectives of this training course are to enable learners to meet the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 in respect to safe isolation of electrical equipment and competence to prevent danger and injury.
Course Dates for 2025:

6th January, 10th February, 10th March, 28th April, 12th May and 16th June.

On this course you will learn:• Introduction to safe isolation • Why is electricity so dangerous? • Legislation, regulations and standards • Safe isolation procedures • Devices suitable for the purpose of isolation • Consequences of not using safe isolation techniques

Entry criteria
The training/assessment course is targeting candidates with the following background:  N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification; or  N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification; or  N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial Installation) or equivalent earlier certification; or  N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Oil‐Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification; or  N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification

But delegates could also be drawn from the facilities and estates management fields.

Course fee is £150. There may be government funding available for part/all of the course fees - please contact the college for more information.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
