During the 2-year programme, students will learn the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of animal care and management occupations. This includes 9 weeks minimum working with an employer on an industry placement.
Within the Animal specialism content will include:

Animal Biology; Animal Anatomy and Physiology; Health and diseases; Classification; Preventative health care and treatment; Nutrition and feeding; Animal behaviour and communication; Animal Training; Accommodation; Animal welfare; Animal ethics; Handling and restraint; Conservation.

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the animal sector, including:

Sustainability, including environmental legislation, sustainable development, climate change and waste management principles; the principles of biosecurity, employment rights and responsibilities and progression opportunities within the sector; the supply chain and principles of stock management; business organisations; enterprise skills and project management; characteristics protected by equality legislation; communication; principles of customer care; finance; health and safety; information and data.

What next?
T Level qualifications are the equivalent of 3 A Levels and therefore, there are a variety of options. Options available include, Higher Education (including degrees), Higher Level Apprenticeships or taking the first steps into employment as part of your future chosen career.
Entry criteria
5 GCSEs at grade 4 including English and Maths OR a pass at Level 2 and maths & English grade 4 or above.
