You will be given a broad grounding in the use of acrylics, from impasto painting, to glazing, to experimenting with bold and expressive brush work.
You will learn how to observe a simple still life, how to mould form through light and shade, how to use colour effectively and how to express space and distance in a landscape.
In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
• Topiary bushes, repeated mark painting • Tree in Landscape• Cloudy sky: Use negative spaces to help construct the rhythm of cloud shapes • Repeated mark painting of still life of citrus fruit. • Repeated mark painting of trees. • Reflective surfaces • Expressing Transparency: Glass objects • Colour wheel part one • Analogous colour scheme • Simple still life with cool colours • Palette knife painting: Expressive landscape.

You are expected to provide your own materials, which may cost approximately £20. Please do not buy any materials until your course is confirmed as running.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

As this is a non-accredited course, a variety of teaching and learning methods will be used.
They will include demonstration, practical, 1 to 1 tuition and group work. Informal methods of assessment will be used.
