Would you like to join the exciting, ever-expanding beauty and aesthetics industry but have no formal beauty qualifications? This access course is ideal for those who would love a career change and to begin working with clients either in a salon or self-employed offering a variety of advanced beauty and/or aesthetic services, for example hair reduction and skin rejuvenation using laser and IPL systems, skin needling, skin peeling or radiofrequency.
This qualification consists of units at Level 2 and 3 combined to provide the learner with the required underpinning knowledge to progress directly onto specific aesthetics training at Level 4 and above without prior beauty therapy training. You will work in the college's professional salon with real clients to gain the experience and confidence you need.

Learners must achieve the mandatory units:

- Maintain health and safety in the salon

- Skin analysis and facial skincare

- Consultation and client care

- Anatomy, physiology and pathology

- Electrical science

What next?
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for additional study at level 4+ in the beauty aesthetic industry for example, VTCT Level Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies or VTCT Level 4 Awards in Skin Needling, Skin Peeling, Radiofrequency or Hair Reduction Using Laser and Light.
Entry criteria
You must be 18 years or older. A successful interview must be achieved.

The VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies is a beauty therapy qualification aimed at learners with no formal background in beauty therapy training, who wish to gain access to additional study of advanced therapy treatments at Levels 4 and above.

Learning & method assessment
To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:
Externally set and internally assessed practical assessments.
Externally set and externally marked theoretical examinations.
Complete a treatment evidence portfolio.
The teaching team will guide and support you fully to build your confidence and experience when providing these specialist services. You will work on live models throughout.
User skills
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety requirements, anatomy, physiology, and pathology and electrical science, alongside skin analysis and safe practice treatment protocols for facial skin care. Learners will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to consult with clients, and provide specific aftercare and home care advice.
