Witney CampusThe AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is designed for anyone wishing to study accountancy and finance alongside a range of complementary business and personal skills to gain knowledge, practical experience and certification.
These are the typical units you will study over the duration of the course:
• Introduction to Bookkeeping
• Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
• Principles of Costing
• The Business Environment.
A student completing this qualification will develop skills in double-entry bookkeeping and will understand how to use journals, control accounts and a trial balance. Students will also gain an understanding of accounting using data analysis software, how to process financial information in accordance with company procedures and schedules, and how to provide information to colleagues, suppliers and/or customers as required.
Skills developed through this qualification could lead to employment as:
• an Accounts Administrator
• an Accounts Assistant
• an Accounts Payable Clerk
• a Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk
• a Trainee Accounting Technician
• a Trainee Finance Assistant.
AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and maths.
Textbooks are required to support students’ study within each unit. The total cost is approximately £120 which is paid directly to the supplier by the student. Information on this is given at the time of enrolment.
AAT registration is required to be paid after enrolment to enable students to sit the examinations and access AAT resources. This is a one off fee for access to the L2 qualification, typically four to five years priced at £172 The exam fees for a first sitting are included in the tuition fee.
