Vice Principal for Curriculum and Innovation
Jack pursued his love for theatre and passion for Shakespeare, undergoing classical training as an actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Seven years into his acting career, Jack was asked by a close friend to cover an eight-week teaching role which unexpectedly ignited his interest in teaching and the difference that education could make.
Since then, Jack has taken on a variety of roles within education. He has worked in several colleges, overseeing study programmes, apprenticeships, and higher education provision, and as Assistant Principal. He joined Abingdon & Witney College in 2021 as the Head of Faculty for Creative Industries, quickly progressing to the senior team as Vice Principal of Curriculum Quality in 2022.In 2023, Jack progressed into the role of Vice Principal of Curriculum and Innovation, undertaking a new leadership role dedicated to shaping the College’s curriculum development and design.
“My favourite part of my job is seeing the passion and excitement for learning within the College. We see students do things they didn’t think they were capable of and watch them go on to have a life and a career that they hadn’t imagined they could have before joining us.
The ethos of ‘Be You. Be Extraordinary.’ embodies everything we do here. We are not driven by results; we are driven by doing the right thing for each of our students. We plan learning, not teaching, and are constantly rethinking our provision of education to ensure we provide something extraordinary.
We have some very exciting changes coming up in our curriculum over the next few years that will enable us to make our provision even more student-centred and relevant to the ever-changing world.”
