Following the overwhelming success of the first trials day, Oxford Utd and Abingdon & Witney College launched the second football trials day on the 28th of June.
Young hopefuls from all over Oxfordshire came along to the £4.9m Bangkok Glass Training Centre to see if they had what it takes to join the Advanced Football Programme.
The trial started with a presentation from George Crowley, Curriculum Manager for Abingdon & Witney College, before the young hopefuls strapped on their boots as Oxford United coaching staff put them through their paces.
George Crowley said
“The second trial was another great success with such a fantastic array of talent on show. This is a wonderful opportunity for these young footballers to work with Abingdon & Witney College and Oxford United, and I look forward to seeing most of these young players in September!”
Run in partnership with Abingdon & Witney College, Oxford United's Advanced Football Programme has been designed to provide 16-18 year olds with an amazing opportunity. Not only can they continue their education and study for a recognised sports qualification, but they will do so whilst training with Oxford United’s UEFA B Qualified coaches in their £4.9m sports complex in Oxford. This partnership means talented and aspiring players no longer need to have to choose between football and academic development. Now they can do both.
