Abingdon CampusThe Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments.
The qualification covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at learners working or volunteering in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.
The programme combines college based study with assessed work-base practice, allowing you to relate theory into your practice. Assessments include observations in your work placements, written assignments and task work. You will be required to put together a portfolio of evidence, which will be marked by your tutor and assessor.

Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on a practical placement as this is an important part of the assessment process and involves evaluating skills in real working situations.
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

On completion of this course, you will receive a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board. Workplace assessments will also take place.
To gain this qualification the learner will need to:
• Pass all mandatory units meeting set criteria
• Show competence in a real work environment
• Complete a minimum of 160 hours work in an Educational setting.
