The Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Course can help you in your progression to a career in the Motor Vehicle Industry. The course incorporates a range of assessment, including exams, practical observations, and written assignments. This gives learner an insight into the expectations within the Motor Industry and the standards and professionalism expected.

The course is an expansion from the Level 1 Vehicle Systems Maintenance and learners will expand the practical, technical, and academic skills previously obtained. This course continues to focus on the core automotive and technical skills values by employers in the workplace. Learners will also develop their knowledge and skills when working on Chassis and Suspension Systems, Vehicle Electrical Components and Health and Safety throughout the workplace.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to apply for an Apprenticeship or the full time L3 motor vehicle course. Or you can seek Motor Vehicle Technician level employment.

Entry criteria
4 GCSES at grade 3 including English or Maths OR a Level 1 pass in a related subject plus English or Maths, and both English and Maths must be at least grade 2 / Level 1 Functional Skills.

Learning & method assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including observation of practical workshop tasks, practical task write ups which detail how the task was performed, written theory knowledge papers and online exams. These will challenge your understanding of the content and concepts of automotive engineering. If required you will also study GSCE English and/or maths to support your entry to employment, apprenticeship or further studies.
