Witney CampusRecognised and sought after by employers on a global scale, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualifications provide professionals with the underpinning knowledge and skills necessary to go far in the people practice career pathways.
This qualification introduces you to a wide range of relevant knowledge and expertise in people practice. You will build your confidence and HR Knowledge, aiming at being able to contribute to immediate colleagues, customers and the organisation; supporting change and driving impact to create immediate and short term value.
The times for the course delivery are 13:00-18:00. Tutorials will be held for individual students 12:00 for up to one hour (approx 3 sessions during the programme for each student at this time).
This qualification is suited to learners who:
Are studying, aspiring to, or embacking on a career in people practice
Are working in a people practice support role and wish to develop their knowledge and deliver immediate and short term value for their organisation
Wish to develop the specialist knowledge, skills and understanding required to be a people professional
Delivery of this course will be blended, 50:50 on campus: online (live) sessions for one day per week.
Students should allow themselves time to study outside of the course too. The amount may vary depending upon the ability of the student, the level of the course, previous knowledge and speed of working. Homework will be set weekly.

Students can enrol on the CIPD Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management, and apply for Associate membership by demonstrating evidence of putting learning into practice, allowing them to become Associate Members of the CIPD.
This qualification is designed for learners aged 19+ who want to learn about people practice. Although there are no formal entry requirements, an informal interview will be conducted to ensure that the course is suitable for you. As this is a professional qualification, we recommend that you hold GCSE English and Maths at L2. However, if you do not have these qualifications please contact us for a discussion as it may still be possible for you to join the course. The CIPD has a policy for students where English is not their first language that gives guidance on appropriate English language entry requirements. There are also extra costs for students to consider. There are copies of core texts available in the library, but students may wish to purchase their own.
You will need to pay exam fees for the two exams during the course and should you be unsuccessful, you would also need to pay retake fees. Currently, the exam fee is £67. Students must also join the CIPD as a studying member. The joining fee is £40 and an annual subscription of £90 whilst studying – this is paid directly to CIPD and this fee is correct at the time of printing.
You may also be invited to attend a CIPD student conference. This would be at the students’ expense and is currently £36 plus VAT for a member.
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) Level 3 Diploma in Human Resource Practice.
Student assessment takes place throughout the course. Each unit will have an assignment which could include writing a report, carrying out a presentation, working on a case study or some form of practical work and reflection, either individually or in groups.
You will acquire a wide range of skills including organisation, communication, advocacy, interviewing skills, IT skills and training techniques.
